If You’re Here, You May Recognize These Patterns in Yourself:

You’ve broken barriers—now you’re figuring out how to feel whole.

  • You’re proud of how far you’ve come as a high-achieving adult, but part of you still feels like you don’t fully belong anywhere.

  • As a BIPOC, first-generation, or immigrant professional, you may carry unspoken pressure to represent your family, culture, or community—and to never mess up.

  • Burnout may show up quietly in your body, your relationships, your mood, your motivation, and your ability to feel joy.

  • You may find yourself wondering who you are outside of achievement, productivity, people-pleasing, or being “the first” to break barriers.

You’ve worked hard to succeed in spaces that weren’t built with you in mind.

  • You’re a high-achieving adult who has learned to push through stress, anxiety, burnout, and overwhelm—even when it comes at a personal cost.

  • You developed resilience out of necessity, not choice, and now you're looking for a way to heal without always being in survival mode.

  • Your success has created new opportunities, but it may also bring guilt, identity struggles, distance from family, or complicated feelings about your cultural roots and upbringing.

  • As a first-generation, immigrant, or BIPOC professional, you may feel caught between honoring your family's sacrifices and creating a life that reflects your own values, needs, and goals.

  • You’re tired of code-switching, shrinking yourself, people-pleasing, or constantly explaining your experiences just to feel understood.

  • You want a space where your identity, culture, and lived experiences are respected—and where healing from trauma, anxiety, burnout, and generational patterns is possible.

Hey!

I’m Taiwo Majekodunmi, LMHC, LPC, NCC, a licensed trauma therapist in New York and New Jersey and the founder of Farada Mental Health. I created this practice for high-achieving, BIPOC and first-generation adults who are ready to heal from trauma, anxiety, burnout, and the pressure of always having to persevere.

Two mustard-colored armchairs facing each other with a potted plant in between. There are film clappers and a color calibration card on each chair. Two tall floor lamps are on either side of the scene, with a white curtain or sheet in the background.

Farada is the Yoruba, one of the many languages spoken in Nigeria, word for persevere, meaning, to endure. It's a word used to express perseverance, resilience. This word has become part of my own story as someone who has had to keep going despite the odds.

At Farada Mental Health, our mission is to help BIPOC, first-generation, and high-achieving adults heal from generational trauma, family pressure, survival mode, and the emotional patterns they no longer want to carry forward.

When it comes to therapy and healing, many times we don’t just need coping skills for short-term solutions. Lasting change happens through persevering, learning to confront your pain, rather than disowning it. Farada Mental Health centers on the ability to endure and keep going, despite the circumstances, trials, or tribulations that life will inevitably present to you.
